The way leaders used to divide, direct, and inspect work no longer produces the desired results. Gone are the days when teams were driven by one person's brilliance or their relationship with their boss. Now, performance is driven by 360-degree relationships, where everyone - boss, peers, and team members - influences each other. As a result, leaders need to think less about ‘how to manage work‘ and more about "how to build relationships and design conversations." In this article, we'll break down the key points of why this shift has happened and what leaders need to focus on.

First, performance is no longer a one-man show

In the past, a leader's experience and information were the biggest assets that drove results. Leaders would set the direction and team members would execute. Today, things are different. Instead of information being concentrated in the hands of a few people, it's now almost equally available to everyone, so the key assets that drive performance have naturally shifted.
The thoughts, ideas, knowledge, and digital skills that each person brings to the table have become central to team performance. Unleashing these resources isn't about one leader dictating the answers, it's about understanding people's capabilities and helping them connect with their resources. At the end of the day, unleashing the power of team members is about leaders getting to know them and enabling them to play to their strengths and potential.

Second, in the age of AI, the value of relationships that only humans can make has increased

In an age where AIs like ChatGPT can write documents, analyze data, and even create videos, there's one area that AIs, no matter how advanced, can't take over. That's understanding the human mind, building trust, and orchestrating relationships to enable collaboration.
For example, a thoughtful sentence from a leader saying, “You seem like you're going through a rough patch, is there anything I can do to help?” can go a long way toward making a team member feel safe and engaged. Human emotions are still only resolved and synchronized in human conversation, so the more AI can do for us, the more important it is for leaders to have the relational skills to understand and connect with people.

Third, shifting personal values: an age of meaning and growth

Today's employees don't just want to ‘do what they're told," they expect their vision, life direction, and personal values to be connected to their work. That's why it's important for leaders to recognize their employees' potential and help them grow.
For example, when a member says, “I'm not having fun at work these days,” instead of responding with, “Do you have fun at work?” a leader who listens and asks, “I'd love to hear more about that, what makes you feel that way?” can reignite the member's inner motivation and growth energy. It all starts with an authentic ‘conversation.

Leadership has now moved from management to relationships.

Performance is all about people, and what drives people starts with conversations. Take 10 minutes today to have a real conversation with one member of your team.
“What's working best for you these days?”
“What support do you need most right now?”
What conversations are you having with your team these days?

Leader Communication # Team Leader Communication # Leadership # Coaching # Facilitation # Conversation # One-on-One # Corporate Training

팀장의 대화력 책 링크
https://www.yes24.com/product/goods/177186829

Youtube (Kor)
https://youtube.com/shorts/v5Iua64FUPw?feature=share

Youtube(Eng)
https://youtube.com/shorts/Oynn_FZZ59A?feature=share

Situational One-on-Ones book link on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Situational-One-Ones-Conversations-High-Performing/dp/B0GJCZQD81/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2LTZ3UJ7YP9H2&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.EF2cyMYvj9HVANSFSpHPB6QNMJVxFhwrcrJgMQUHw4es2Ciw5RfjVwrg8EI6tl2RoiDUa75Fb0Z9zONgWIeBWA.XsXrsjY_Hej96_S4k8RpTNL6inFNk4b7Kb5b97Fk17Q&dib_tag=se&keywords=situational+one+on+one&qid=1770346459&sprefix=situational+one+on+o%2Caps%2C336&sr=8-1

요즘 조직에서 성과가 만들어지는 방식이 눈에 띄게 달라지고 있습니다. 예전처럼 리더가 일을 나누고 지시하고 점검하는 방식만으로는 원하는 결과가 나오지 않습니다.
